Palmeiras president Leila Pereira claims she foresaw Endrick's struggles following a conversation with Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez before his move was completed. (More Football News)

Endrick made the move to the Spanish capital in July, signing a six-year contract with Los Blancos in a reported 47.5 million euro deal.

The 18-year-old's career at Madrid started positively, netting a goal on his debut in a 3-0 home victory over Real Valladolid to immediately endear himself to the supporters.

His strike saw him become the youngest foreign player to score for the club in their LaLiga history (18 years and 35 days), surpassing Raphael Varane (18 years and 152 days).

Endrick also netted on his first Champions League appearance, also becoming the youngest Madrid and Brazilian player to find the back of the net in the competition.

But he has since struggled to build on his impressive start, notching just four goals in 20 appearances in all competitions, totalling just 317 minutes of action.

Though Pereira knew the Brazilian would struggle for game time in Carlo Ancelotti's star-studded attack, she had no doubts that he will enjoy a successful career in Madrid.

These two teams are meeting for the first time in the tournament in group stage.

Hannan Shahid was named the hero of the match for his spectacular double. Pakistan's five goals, which decisively thrashed China in Hulunbuir, have secured their place in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, where they join India. This sets up the potential for an India vs. Pakistan final, though the two teams will first face off in their fifth match on Saturday.

"We foresaw that [Endrick's lack of playing time]. He's very young, a young talent, but it's difficult for a kid to come out of Brazil and adapt immediately," she told The Athletic.

"He will have patience because he is very determined, focused. He will shine a lot for Real Madrid."

Endrick is not the first high-profile addition that Madrid have made from Brazil, with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo also making the switch from Flamengo and Santos respectively.

Vinicius and Rodrygo have both gone on to flourish at the Bernabeu, though both also endured difficult first seasons in the Spanish capital.

The weight on the shoulders of Endrick has been immense, heightened even further when Madrid president Perez compared the teenager to Brazilian great Pele.

"Florentino Perez told me, 'Leila, I have been informed Endrick is better than Pele'," Pereira said.
